Primary Election - July 21, 2026

Public Notice of the Town of Sahuarita

ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2026, GOVENOR HOBBS SIGNED HB2022 INTO LAW. THE LEGISLATION TOOK EFFECT IMMEDIATELY AND CHANGES THE 2026 PRIMARY ELECTION DATE TO JULY 21, 2026.

Notice is hereby given that the Town of Sahuarita will hold municipal elections on the following dates:

  • * Primary Election: July 21, 2026
  • General Election: November 3, 2026 (if required)

Offices to be Filed:

Three (3) Town Council Member seats will be filled for four-year terms.

General Plan Ratification: 

On February 23, 2026, the Town Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-0856 referring the Town of Sahuarita General Plan to the qualified electors of the Town for ratification at the July 21, 2026 Primary Election, pursuant to A.R.S. § 9-461.06.

The proposed General Plan will appear on the July 21, 2026 ballot for voter consideration.

Candidate Information:

Candidate information and candidate packets are available online at www.sahuaritaaz.gov/elections, or in person at the Town of Sahuarita, Town Clerk Department, 375 W. Sahuarita Center Way, Sahuarita, AZ 85629.

Candidate Filing Period:

NEW Candidate Packet Filing Deadline: 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Candidate packets must be filed with the Town Clerk Department at the address listed above.

Voter Registration Deadlines:

  • June 22, 2026, for the July 21, 2026 Primary Election
  • October 5, 2026, for the November 3, 2026 General Election

* Pursuant to A.R.S. § 9-821.01 and A.R.S. § 16-645, a candidate who receives a majority of all votes cast at the Primary Election may be declared elected without advancing to the General Election, provided all statutory requirements are met.

Candidate Election

The Town of Sahuarita will hold a Primary Election on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to elect three Town Council Members.  Registered voters who reside in the Town of Sahuarita may participate in this election.  The Pima County Elections Department will conduct this election. 

Registration

Pima County registration and voting lists will be used for Town elections. Voter registration forms are available from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday – Thursday, in the Town Clerk Department, or by calling the Pima County Recorder’s Office, 520-724-4330. Voters may also download the registration form or register online through ServiceArizona

Voters may contact the Pima County Recorder’s Office at 520-724-4330 or 520-724-4320 (TDD) to find out whether they are eligible to vote in a Town of Sahuarita election.

The last day to register to vote before the Primary Election is June 22, 2026.

Active Early Voter List (AEVL)

AEVL allows a voter to make a single request to receive early ballots by mail for all future elections in which the voter is eligible to vote.  Ballots for the Primary Election will be mailed to voters on the AEVL beginning June 24, 2026.
